The Healthy Minds Apprentices 2020 - Present
The Healthy Minds Apprentices are a group of young people working across the Bradford district and Craven to support children and young people, communities and schools with their mental health and wellbeing.
They are commissioned by the Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership to help shape local mental health services work, deliver awareness workshops in the community, conduct academic reports and audits, and take part in coproduction, co-design, community action and youth engagement.
They are outgoing people who are passionate about mental health, promoting youth voice and inclusivity surrounding special educational needs, disabilities and neurodiversity; making sure that mental health services are accessible and meet the needs of children and young people.
Some of their work includes:
-
Kindness, Compassion & Understanding (KCU) - award winning anti-bullying campaign, delivered in primary, secondary schools, colleges and SEND provision
-
Born in Bradford (BiB) - the apprentice programme's longest standing coproduction partners, helping to shape and deliver a variety of BIB projects, including Age of Wonder
-
Youth Work Programmes - activities for local children and young people during school holidays (HAF and Youth Clubs)
-
Social Action - taking part in a number of projects to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community, including organising food banks, events and detached youth work
-
SEND - Supporting all SEN organisations and projects across Bradford, including SEND LO, AWARE and West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership

The Healthy Minds Apprentices have been a joy to work with. Their willingness to help, diverse skillset, and enthusiasm have made a real impact across projects. From creative social media work to insightful peer research and raising awareness of mental health, they bring fresh energy and passion to everything they do. We’re grateful for their dedication and the positive difference they’ve made.

KCU is a brilliant resource and I would recommend this to other primary schools in the district.
The pupils were fully engaged in the workshops, and this led to more sessions within the school which were delivered by the teachers.

I would like to thank the Healthy Minds apprentices for all their hard work over, which everyone at Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership has really valued so much. Each of them has brought their own personal experiences and knowledge of their communities to help steer the work that we deliver to support children and young people’s mental health across Bradford District and Craven.
