Attending the recent Health and Wellbeing event was an eye-opening experience for us- Maheen, Candice, Savitha, Zahid, and Syed. Together, we explored a variety of stands, each offering valuable information, services, and support. We began our journey at the Living well Stand, where we learned about promoting a balanced lifestyle. The staff provided practical advice on diet, exercise, and stress management, emphasising how small, consistent changes can significantly improve overall health and well-being.
Next, we visited the Family Hub, a treasure trove of resources for families. From parenting advice to youth activities, the hub provided support across generations. The welcome atmosphere made it clear that this stand was all about building a strong, supportive community where families can thrive. At the MESMAC stand, we learned about sexual health, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community. The team offered free health screenings, safe practises advice, and connections to local support groups. Their inclusive approach highlighted the importance of accessible and respectful health services for everyone. One of the most impactful stands we encountered was Preparing Refugees for Work. This initiative is dedicated to helping refugees integrate into the workforce, offering resources such as CV writing, interview preparation, and English language support.
The dedication of the staff and the positive outcomes they've achieved were truly inspiring, showcasing the power of community in fostering knew beginnings.
