As part of Mental Health Awareness Week 2026, we have been encouraging people to focus on one simple message — small actions can make a big difference to our mental health and wellbeing.
In partnership with Bolton Woods Community Centre, we created a Wellbeing Tree where staff, volunteers, young people, and community members can share the small actions they take to support their wellbeing.
The tree has quickly filled with positive ideas and personal reflections. From going for a short walk, listening to music, taking time away from social media, speaking to a friend, getting outside, or simply taking a moment to rest — every action matters.
The project has been a simple but powerful reminder that looking after our mental health does not always need to involve big changes. Small, consistent actions can help people feel more connected, supported, and positive in everyday life.
Mental Health Awareness Week is also an important opportunity to encourage open conversations around wellbeing and reduce stigma around mental health. By sharing ideas and experiences together, we can help create supportive communities where people feel comfortable asking for help and supporting each other.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Wellbeing Tree and shared their small actions throughout the week.
