Stay Informed, Stay Balanced
Many young people want to stay aware of world issues: "I like to stay informed. I think it's important to watch it." This commitment is good, but constant negative stories cause strain.
For others, stepping back is necessary self-care: "No, I don't really watch any content on it."
The choice is yours, but the action is the same: set clear boundaries.
The Apprentices shared simple rules to manage news and emotions:
Limit Time: Set timers on apps. Stop scrolling for hours.
Fix Your Feed: Use the "Not Interested" button to change what the algorithm shows you.
Step Away: Take screen breaks to reset your mind.
Talk About It: Share your feelings with friends or family instead of keeping it bottled up.
Allow Yourself a Break: You can always look at a story later. You don't have to engage right now.
As one apprentice said: "Take a bit of time away to digest it. You can always revisit it. And if you don't want to revisit it, you don't have to.”
